Hi,
I am currently working with the BR file for India. I have a few observations in the data set that have the same line number within a household, that is, the child of mother is not uniquely identified by cluster (hv001), household number (hv002) and the line number of the child in the household. When I look at the case id, I see the respondent of these children are different in the household, that is , it is potentially a response by two different women in the same household. However, the line number of the children by these two women is the same. I wanted to confirm if these observations are a result of an error and need to be dropped. Thank you .

Hi,
Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I am still looking at duplicate observations in the BR file. For India, I opened the BR file. I identified the households using v001(cluster number) and household number (v002). I dropped observations where b16=0 or b16=.
I also dropped births that were not single births. I am left with 41 observations where households have children with the same b16. Please let me know if I need to provide more information.
Thank you.
