Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

If the first pregnancy was in the past five years, then the number of months of pregnancy is given by the number of months with a "P" before the birth "B" or the termination "T". The length of the pregnancy includes the month of delivery. That is, a full-term pregnancy would have 8 months with P followed by a month with B (a total of 9 months). A stillbirth would have 6 or more months with P followed by a month with B.

I would not have a lot of confidence in the reported durations. If the first pregnancy was more than five years ago, or overlaps the beginning of the calendar, then I don't believe there is any information about the duration of the pregnancy. Perhaps other forum users have suggestions.
