Dear DHS,

I am re-generating and applying some modifications to the existing tables in the DHS report for Papua New Guinea. The report is at the national level. I am requested to dis-aggregate the tables down one level to sub-national level (regional), and down another level to sub-regional level (province).

My query is, can I confidently share the tables (and data) and say that it is representative of its level (whether 1st or 2nd level)?

Require your advise and guidance on this matter please.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

The data can be safely disaggregated by strata, hv023. There are 43 strata in this survey. At lower levels of aggregation the estimates will not be biased, but they will have wide confidence intervals because the sample sizes will be small. That's the main reason why we do not recommend going to a lower level of aggregation.
