The ethnicity variable (mv131) only has few data options recorded for real ethnicity. "Other" clumps up many tribes, yet i need the entire list of ethnicity options in Uganda for analysis. How do i find the details of the ethnicity variable when data was recorded as "other" in the men dataset for Uganda DHS 2011.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

The responses to ethnicity were open-ended. They included many different spellings and different interpretations of ethnicity. It is not possible to give more detail beyond the relatively large categories that are coded in the data files.
