Hi,

I am trying to create a municipality level panel of the DHS for the years 2005, 2010, and 2015. I wanted to match the municipality level DHS data with municipality level DANE census data using the municipality codes. I created unique municipality codes by concatenating the sdepto and smunip as recommended on a different thread. However, very few of these unique municipality codes actually match with the DANE codes (only ~30). I wanted some help understanding why the codes are so different and if this is not the right way to match, what is an alternative way I can merge the DHS and DANE data. Thanks!

Following is a response from DHS Geospatial Analyst, Bradley Janocha:

The DHS Program's boundaries are prepared to align with data collected during DHS Program surveys. They may not align exactly with boundaries produced by other organizations. To combine data from different boundary sources, you may need to conduct advanced geospatial analyses that are outside the scope of the use support we provide.

Where can a key be found to show which municipalities are correlated with each number? Where can I find key for the DHS Colombia studies
