How do I extract a sample of married women from the women dataset. Using v501 and v502 varriables does not seem to work in SPSS.

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

In SPSS the variables names are in upper-case letters, I believe. You might try V501 and V502.
