Dear all,

Thank you very much for your help. I need help calculating children's age in months. Even after reviewing several links, I am still not able to pull it up. I am using STATA and I am wondering if it would be possible to have the commands to achieve my goal.

thank you very much

Hello,

This depends on which file you are using.

For KR and BR files this would be :
gen age = v008 - b3

or if the survey has the variable b19, then:
gen age=b19

For IR files it would be:
gen age = v008 - b3_01

and if there is a b19 variable in the dataset, then:
gen age=b19_01

The Guide to DHS Statistics is a good resource for understanding how to use DHS data: https://www.dhsprogram.com/Data/Guide-to-DHS-Statistics/inde x.htm#t=Guide_to_DHS_Statistics_DHS-7.htm

We also have standard code for all indicators listed in the Guide on our code share library hosted on GitHub: https://github.com/DHSProgram/DHS-Indicators-Stata

Thank you.

Best,
Shireen Assaf
