NFHS 3 data - indoor air pollution determinants [message #2135]

I am looking at data for determining indoor air pollution in the NFHS 3 data.
The question no 49 in household questionnaire asks - In this household, is food cooked on a stove, a chullah or an open fire?
The answers are
1) stove
2) chullah
3) open fire

However the recode manual and map provided by DHS - V shows the same question with code reversed and the option chullah changed as.
1) Open fire
2) open stove
3) closed stove with chimney

I wish to know how this recoding was done ( Is chullah recoded as open stove and stove recoded as closed stove with chimney ?)

The question was recoded to fit the standard categories stove and open fire. However, the original categories were saved in the country specific variable SH49.
