The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) established in its Article 31, the importance to collect information in order to design adequate policies for people who are living with disabilities:

Therefore, it is important to generate reliable and comparative information across countries. I argue in favour of the inclusion of 'the Washington Group disability questions' in the DHS surveys. Also, I suggest a module to capture children's disabilities, as well as possible questions regarding to the access to social protection schemes or social benefits for people living with disabilities.
