Hi there,

I was wondering if it's possible to link data between the Afghanistan 2015 DHS and 2018-19 SPA or is the gap between when each survey was conducted too large? I was hoping to look at quality of care and ANC in particular.

Dear user,

This is a large gap. Typically we link when the surveys are conducted within two years of each other. However, the more problematic issue in this case is that the Afghanistan SPA was not a national survey, nor was it conducted among all formal facilities; the survey included hospitals and private clinics in 7 provinces only. You would need to focus your analysis on those provinces and consider limiting your sample to women who used those particular facilities for ANC, depending on your research question. So sample size might become an issue.
