Dear DHS,

My questions are as follows:

1) I am looking at NFHS 4 - Individual recode file (iair71fl.dta). What do the variables v304_01- v304_20 mean. The label merely says 'knows method'. It's not clear what method its asking about

2) Where do I find the variables corresponding to questions 317 - 01 to 20 (Section 3B: Contraception) - Whether the woman has heard about various methods of family planning

I just figured out what's going on. The labels in the dateset aren't helpful. So I tabulated each variable, and compared the result with the NFHS report, and then realized the following

v304_01 Pill
v304_02 IUD
v304_03 injectables
v304_05 condom/ nirodh
v304_06 female sterilisation
v304_07 male sterilisation
v304_08 Rhythm
v304_09 Withdrawal
v304_10 other
v304_13 LAM
v304_14 Female condom
v304_16 emergency contraceptives
