Hello,

We are looking to use the Household Member Recode file from the DHS as a nationally representative survey sample at the individual level for a few countries. Do you have any recommendations on how to commute the household weight to an individual weight? Alternately, would you recommend using a different dataset that already has those individual-level weights (note that the women and men surveys are not eligible for our purposes because of the frequency of sampling for those surveys)?

As a simple example, suppose all I wanted to know the proportion of the national population that was 18-25 years old. What file and weighting scheme should I use to calculate this?

Thanks in advance

Hello,
You just need to use hv005.
The individual weights in this case are the same as the household weights, since all the members of the household are included.
Best.
