Hello,
The variable, v447a, women's age in years (from household questionnaire) in the KR file of the 2014 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey has 2,852 observations having missing values. I will like to know if it is correct or it is an error.
Thank you.

Dear User, a response from senior data processing specialist Bert Themme,
Quote:
V477a is based on HA1 (Woman's age in years) in the household recode. HA1 is based on the women in the weight, height, hemoglobin measurement and HIV testing for women 15-49 section. This section is only asked for women in households selected for the man's survey (50% of the households). Thus women not living in households selected for the man's survey were assigned missing to V477a.

Dear User, looking at weighted frequencies for Ghana DHS 2008 and looking at B11, there are no missings in the frequencies. Can you please be more specific on what you are trying to accomplish? Are there certain tables you are looking at in the final reports? If you do find missings, it means "This question should have been answered by the respondent, but the questionnaire contained no information for this variable (missing data). This code is mainly used in paper based surveys." The codes are something like 9999, 999, 99, or 9 depending on how many digits in the field needed to enter a response. There are definitions for this in The Standard Recode Manual.

Dear Liz,
Thank you for the information.
I am not look at the GDHS reports for the missing data.
I am working with the KR data set for 2008 and 2014 and both contain missing value for b11 (preceding birth interval).
Also, s1015d has missing in 2008 and s1050 missing for 2014. and
v505 has 280 missing in 2008 and 832 missing in 2014.
I just want to be sure they are geniuely missing.
In addition, 'number of times took sp/fansidar/malafan during this pregnancy' has values has high as 24 in the KR for 2008 and 2014.
Does that mean the pregnant woman took 24 doses? of the it.
Thanks.
