Dear DHS,

I have a quick question. I am using the DHS 2009 and I am particularly interested in the Height for age Z score and Weight for age Z Score. I have examined the data and I have hw70 and hw71 in the dataset. Can I use this directly for my analysis, rather than calculating the z score, using the z score package?

Kind Regards!

I'm having a similar issue.

I'm looking at Zimbabwe data from 1999, 2005-6, 2011, and 2015 hoping to study stunting in children. I see hw5 is a height for age score but based off of out-dated NCHS reference growth curves. These are less accurate than the modern WHO standard references which are used in the DHS reports. v444 looks like women's anthropometry with WHO reference standards.

Can anyone help us identify height for age z scores for children based off of the modern WHO reference standards?

Thanks,
Joe

EDIT: Pardon me, duh it's hw70! To the previous poster, this appears already normalized to the reference population as a z score so you should be able to grab the var and run.
