Hello,
I am analyzing livestock ownership by type of animal. In the Senegal 2017 DHS, question 118 of the household questionnaire asks about the following categories of livestock:
a) Cows/bulls
b) Camels
c) Horses/Donkeys/Mules
d) Goats
e) Sheep
f) Chickens/other birds
g) Pigs
However, the labels for the corresponding variables in the SNHR7ZFL database are as follows:
hv246a - owns cattle
hv246b - owns cows/bulls
hv246c - owns horse/donkeys/mules
hv246d - owns goats
hv246e - owns sheep
hv246f - owns chickens/poultry
hv246g - owns cs
Should I ignore the labels and assume that the suffix letter on the variable name corresponds to the letter of the option in the questionnaire? Or should I follow the variable labels, in which case, which variable is camels and which is pigs?
Thanks,
Josh
