Dear all,

I am working on a number of African DHS datasets and have noticed something strange regarding maternal history in the following surveys: MZBR71 and TZBR6A.
BORD is supposed to be the reverse order from BIDX, meaning that BORD + BIDX = total number of kids (of a mother) +1.
Yet this equality is not respected in numerous cases in these 2 datasets.

For instance, in the following example, "verif" should be equal to 0 for this equality to be respected.
As you can see, it is not always the case.

caseid bidx bord nb_kids verif
mother1 1 3 3 0
mother1 2 2 3 0
mother1 3 1 3 0
mother2 1 4 1 3
mother3 1 1 1 0
mother4 1 2 2 0
mother4 2 1 2 0
mother5 1 5 3 2
mother5 2 4 3 2
mother5 3 3 3 2
mother6 1 2 1 1
mother7 1 2 2 0
mother7 2 1 2 0
mother8 1 3 1 2
mother9 1 6 2 4
mother9 2 5 2 4

Could you let me know how BORD should be understood in this example?
Thank you very much in advance!
