How to Access GPS Data [message #13363]

To gain access to the GPS datasets you are requesting, please follow this link (https://dhsprogram.com/data/dataset_admin/login_main.cfm) and login in the "Registered Users Please Login Here" section. Once you've done so, please select your project from the dropdown menu on the landing page.

Then, select the region from which you need data. After selecting the appropriate region for your country of interest, you will see a page similar to that of the attached image.

Please note that by default, the option to download GPS data is not visible. You must click "Show GPS Datasets" in the circled area. Clicking this will refresh the page with a new column of checkboxes which will allow you to request GPS data. Please request the data and provide the necessary project description/justification. Once this is in the system, we will be able to approve the request.

Dear All,
I do not see option to choose geographic information.
The above picture shows how it looks like on my account.
Is anyone have clue how to access the geographical data?

Hi Agnes, Your project is not approved for GPS datasets for Timor-Leste.

You will need to log back in, select your project and go to the link:

"Request additional countries/datasets for this project"

Then do the following:

-- Choose "South and Southeast Asia"
-- Click on "Show GPS datasets" and click "yes"
-- Select Timor-Leste in the GPS column
-- Click "save selections"
-- Enter justification for GPS datasets
-- Click "submit dataset request"

Then someone at DHS will need to approve your request.

If you still have issues please contact archive@dhsprogram.com

Hello,
I tried your process but i do not find the page you indicate in your message. Please help, i need this data for a present of my project this tuesday. I want to tell you that i am a PhD student, then, i need this GPS data for an academic research.

I have followed your instruction and sent the request for GPS data of Ethiopia. According to the Dataset Request Confirmation, I should receive an email notice within 2 business days confirming that the request is reviewed but it was not the case. I have then tried to resend the request but still with no response in another two business days.

Can you help me with this? I am in an urgent need of the data to continue my research.

Hello,

The DHS 2003-04 GPS datasets do not seem to be available for Madagascar even though the Stata file contains cluster numbers, regions and cluster altitude. I have already sent an email to gpsprojects@dhsprogram.com but the only answer I received is "it's not currently available". No information on why, when it will be etc. Is there any other way to obtain the GPS datasets for the clusters of DHS 2003-04?

Due to data quality issues, the GPS for the Madagascar 2003 DHS will not be released.
