THMIS 2011/12 - where's the Male 15-49 data ?? [message #1577] Fri, 14 March 2014 10:42 Go to next message

I've never used the HIV/AIDS and Malaria surveys (only the standard DHS) so I may just be confused.

I'm looking for the variables for the male respondents 15-49 that are analogous to the women's 15-49. I'd like to look at the HIV/AIDS knowledge and prevention questions (Chapter 4.2 in the final report) but can't find the variables in the data files. The HH member file doesn't seem to include them. The Individual file seems to include only women.

Am I missing something or is the male data file not released to the public?

Thanks!

I emailed DHS and they gave me this answer which resolved the issue:

Variables in men and women in the Tanzania TMIS 2011-12 data file have the same names. Except that when the question is not asked the value is not applicable/missing. To differentiate between men and woman use the variable "AIDSEX".

Apparently both men's and women's responses are in the Individual file.
