Hi!
I have a quick question regarding missing data. From the documentation, codes such as 9, 99, 999, etc. are used for missing data cases when the data should be present but is not, whereas codes such as 8, 98, 998, etc. are used for cases where the respondent did not know the answer to the question. In the case that the respondent refused to answer the question, which code would that fall under?
Thanks so much!

Following is a response from DHS Technical Director, Guillermo Rojas:
Except in a few variables where the "refuse" code is explicit, we don't have a special code for "refuse". In DHS it is not possible to determine when a question was "refused", except for variables where that explicit code is part of the variable categories.
