Hello! I am trying to calculate the indicator:

"Fpnadmwpdm: Percentage of demand for family planning satisfied by modern methods"

for Congo, DR - 2013, and I can not get the same % as in statcompiler. Would it be please possible to have advice on what exact variables have you used, and possibly get a code in STATA (or any other software), please?

Thanks!

Please see the survey-specific code provided on the Unmet Need page at https://www.dhsprogram.com/topics/Unmet-Need.cfm

Thank you for your kind reply. The CDR 2013 dataset already includes v626a variable.

I was wondering about indicator: % of demand satisfied - which i can't see in the survey-specific code provided on the Unmet Need page.

I can see the definition on statcompiler - which sounds easy to do, but for some reasons I get different %

"Percentage of demand for family planning satisfied by modern methods is calculated as the number of currently married women using modern methods of family planning divided by the number of currently married women with demand for family planning (either with unmet need or currently using any family planning)".

I am probably doing something different than what i should do.

May I please ask if all you do is to take as numerator: number of currently married women using modern methods
and denominator: number of currently married women with unmet need? Or currently using any FP?

thank you again.

Proportion of demand satisfied by modern methods is those currently using modern methods divided by total demand for family planning. Total demand for family planning is those currently using any method (including modern and traditional methods) plus those in need (all unmet need).

See our Youtube video that explains the Proportion of Demand Satisfied by Modern Methods.

Ah! brilliant, thanks a lot for the clarification!
I wasn't adding those currently using any method (including modern and traditional methods) to those in need (all unmet need)!!!
