Following is a response from Senior Data Processing Specialist, Fidele Mutima:
In the 2014 Bangladesh DHS, the individual questionnaire included only ever-married women; those are women who are currently married, divorced, separated, deserted or widowed. Employment was not looked at for women who do only housework versus those who work; all interviewed women were asked if besides housework they had an employment. The variables at play are: V714, V716, V717 and V719.
V714 tells if the respondent works; this is about work/employment besides housework and it means that the respondent is currently working (worked the last 7 days or has worked but was absent for leave, illness, vacation, maternity leave or any other reason). The question for this variable was asked to all interviewed women.
V716 gives the detailed occupation of the respondent and V717 gives the grouped classification of respondent's occupation: professional or clerical. Questions for these two variables were asked to only ever-married women who work.
V719 reports on for who the respondent works for: family member, someone else or self-employed. The question for this variable was asked to only ever-married women who work.
Hope this helps.
