Dear Admin,
I am trying to get a proxy variable that could provide insight into possible prolonged labour. I therefore need clarification on the variable M61. Does it represent the whole period spent: presentation at place of birth through to delivery and then discharge?

Yes, I believe M61 represents to the total time spent at the facility, including the delivery and up to the point of discharge. I do not believe this could provide a proxy for prolonged labour and don't know of a variable that could.
