Hello all,
This is Abhishek Kumar from India. I am working with Population Council, India Office.

I am trying to estimate prevalence of C-section birth for India using NFHS-4 kids file. I am using V401 and applying national weight. I am getting an estimate of 17.6% (N=249,966.97) where as in the NFHS-4 report it is 17.2% (N=249,949). Could any of you clarify this mismatch.

With Kind Regards
Abhishek

Following is a response from DHS Chief of Data Processing, Guillermo Rojas:

Variable V401 is just for caesarean section for the last birth. To properly produce the indicator, variable M17 (caesarean for each child born in the last 5 years) should be used.

How to calculate cesarean section deliveries in the last 5 years. I wanted to generate a new variable out of the m17_1 -----m17_6 variables (IR file for India) but was not able to get the results.

Requesting any response for the same.
