Hello, I would like to measure out-of school attendance for secondary level in Malawi, Bangladesh and Guatemala. I have a couple of questions please:
1) what's the best variable to use to measure out-of-school attendance?
2) I can see that age ranges for secondary school vary for the 3 countries. I am assuming this depends on the fact that children go from primary to secondary school at different ages in the 3 countries? are the age ranges you use defined by the country offices?
thank you for your help!

A response form Senior Data Processing Expert, Mr. Guillermo Rojas,
Quote:

Variable HV121 (Attend school during current school year) and HV122 (Grade attending) are the most appropriate variables to calculate attendance rates.
Yes, the age ranges for each level of school are defined by the country.
