Hello,

For the Burkina Faso 1993 DHS survey, I see that a lot of the clusters have repeated coordinates (230 clusters mapped to 124 unique points), with all clusters in Ouagadou having the same coordinates plus some other locations having duplicated coordinates (this is the case in the raw survey file not just the codebook). Can you help me understand why this is the case?

I'm wondering if these are accurate coordinates, or if they are the centroid of a town/area of the clusters. I cant find any information about this in the documentation that came with the files.

Regards,
Lyla

Following is a response from DHS Senior GIS Specialist, Tom Fish:

Burkina Faso 1993 was part of the West African Spatial Analysis Prototype (WASAP) and the location data was derived from gazetteers in the late-1990s. For more information, please see SAR1 [1]
