Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

You should use the KR file. Each case in the file is a child whose mother is living and is in the same household as the child. For each child, this file includes the nutrition variables (hw70-hw72 are the same as hc70-hc72 in the household file), the sex of the child (b4) and birth order (bord). This is the only way to include birth order in the analysis. Even if you merge with the PR file, bord is only defined for children whose mother is alive and in the same household as the child, because this variable comes from the birth histories.
