Hello,
We are trying to determine the proportion of women who have attended university, as asked in Question 108 on the 2016 Uganda DHS Women's Questionnaire. Is there a variable in the data set that gives the educational break-downs as they are asked? Or, alternatively, can you share how the categories (no education, primary, secondary, higher) were constructed from the categories asked (primary, O level, A level, tertiary, university)?

Thank you!

All the best,
Lauren

Dear User,
The following CSPro code was used to recode Q107, Q108, Q109 into V016 and V017.
V106 = LevEduc( Q107, Q108 );
    { Highest year of education }
    V107 = GraEduc( Q108, Q109 );

I looked for a country specific variable for Q108 but did not find one. This means it was recoded into existing standard recode variables V106 and V107. There are country specific variables at the household level for education variables in the household roster. Those are SH17, SH17A, SH17B, SH19, SH19A and SH19B. These SH variables correspond to the QH variables in the questionnaire. In this case QH17, QH17A, QH17B, QH19, QH19A and QH19B.
Thank you!
