Hey,

I would like to merge PR and KR files for Malawi 2015/16 data.

As there is more information on child health via KR.

I have tried following the instructions via https://dhsprogram.com/data/Merging-Datasets.cfm

Firstly I sorted the HV001 AND HV002 to make them key variables. But via SPSS it keeps saying that " Warnings
Duplicate key in a table lookup (dimension) file. Cases (records) must be uniquely identified in the table lookup file based on key value(s) specified with the ON keyword.
Execution of this command stops."

Secondly should I weight the data prior to merger or after ?

Thank you for your time.

Please search the forum - there are multiple posts on merging data. You do not have to weight the data before merging.

Hi hkj3,

Not clear what type of analysis you want to conduct. If you simply want to attach household characteristics to the children, you might want to try IPUMS DHS. Select children as your unit of analysis. Then select the Malawi 2016 sample. You will find that most of the household variables are available. You can log in using your regular DHS username (email) and password.
