Hello,

I'm currently working on the HIV test results and on the Individual datasets. I tried to understand what are, in each databases, exactly the hivclust, hivnumb, hivline (HIV test results data) and the v001, v002 and v003 (individual data).

For the cluster part, what is it ? The number of cluster for a region ? For an area ? For something else ?
For the household number, is it the total number of household in a cluster ? Something else ?
For the line, is it a children ? A man ? A woman ? Just a person aged of for than a certain threshold ? Something else ?

Thanks a lot!

Here is a response from one of our Senior Data Processing Specialists, Lady Ortiz.

I suggest you visit our website http://www.measuredhs.com/publications/publications-by-type. cfm to download the final report of the country you are trying to analyze. In each DHS final report, there is a chapter on "Sample design" that you'd find very helpful. Furthermore, if the survey includes HIV testing, there will be another chapter on "HIV prevalence", that has a lot of information on the coverage of the HIV Test.

Please read these chapters, and I believe they will have the answers to most of your questions. If after reading the report, you still have questions please don't hesitate to contact us again.
