Hi everyone,
I have been struggling to generate a variable called Adult Mortality without success. Could anyone help me in this regard using 2008 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey and Stata? Does anyone have a do file for adult mortality? Please share with me.

regards
Chibu

Dear Chibu,
At this time, DHS does not have a Stata program to calculate adult and maternal mortality that matches the CSPro program and is ready to post or distribute. We hope to have such a program by mid-2014.
Thank you for your inquiry. If this has not answered your question adequately, please reply.

Thank you Liz, but adult mortality can be generated! I have actually seen dozen of articles that studied adult mortality but don't how they generated it.

I will appreciate if somebody can help me find a way around it.
Thanks

Dear Chibu,
Have you thought about contacting the authors of the articles you mentioned? I am sure they have some insight they may be able to share with you. Our goal at DHS is to get an EXACT match with the CSPro program. Getting close is not difficult, matching it exactly is a work in progress.
Thank you!

Hi Liz,

Can you please share the stata codes for calculation of "Age-specific death rates and crude death rates" for DHS data?
Thanks in advance.

Dear User, Senior Technical Advisor, Trevor Croft recommends you
take a look at this thread: message 8851
which does about 90% of the work, producing the counts, from which the maternal mortality rates are calculated. It doesn't do the age adjustment or calculate the age adjusted maternal mortality rate or the ratio, but these can all be done in Excel from the counts.]
