Hello,
(Lesotho 2014)
I've merged couples and HIV test recode in SPSS, and have created a new variable to define couples' HIV status.
When cross-tabbing this new variable with women's HIV test results, my n=708 the same as the official report.
When cross-tabbing with men's HIV test results, my n=722.
Can anyone help explain why this might be? Why when cross-tabbing with men do I get an extra 14 cases?
I think it might be because some men are counted in more than one couple. Attached is a record of the number of other wives; and for men with 2 or more wives, and for those that responded "don't know", counts to 14. If this is the reason, how can I drop the these 14 cases using syntax, or do people know a better way to deal with this situation?
If anyone has any advice please, please, please let me know! It will be extremely appreciated, thank you!
