Hi there,
I am in the process of writing a research paper. I am using Sierra Leone womens DHS dataset. I have used conindex to compute the concentration index (Erreygers). The variable of interest is binary = Contraceptive use (0=No, 1=Yes).
I would like to know if there's anyone who might have a do-file which computes the decomposition of the Erreygers concentration index (using the Wealth Index and Education as the socioeconomic variables). I want to decompose the index to further illustrate the contribution of certain background factors to inequality.
If anyone has worked on something similar, please let me know - or preferably send your do-file so that I can try to adapt it for my research. Thank you.

I really appreciate the response given by Shireen Assaf; DHS Senior Research Associate on the question of computing decomposition analysis. When I use the command 'gen wt= v005/1000000 and conindex contuse [pw=wt], rankvar(v190) bounded limits(0 1) erreygers cluster(v021)'in my context, the stata result window showed me 'no observation'. But the descriptive analysis of the variable I used has output. I am using stata 14 to compute concentration index for family planning use variable and also want to compute decomposition analysis using Ethiopia Demographic Health survey Data. Can you please help me in sending me do-file on how I can compute the concentration index and decomposition analysis using stata 14. I really appreciate your help in advance. I look forward to your reply.

Dear Tom Pullum,
Thank you very much for having you there. After you response, I found what the problem was with my analysis. Thank you very much for your guiding suggestion. I found the analysis is working and interesting.
I have three more questions:
1. If I want to do decomposition analysis for more than one variable such as education, residence, and region, can I run the command 'conindex contuse [pw=wt], rankvar(v190) bounded limits(0 1) erreygers cluster(variable)' again and again for variable separatly or is there any mechanism to do it simultaneously like what we do in multivariable logistic regression.
2. In decomposition analysis, how can I get
Coefficient
Mean
Elasticity
Percentage contribution to Concentration index
3. I am also in need of sample command to compute Gini Index and Gini Curve to see the geographic inequality.
Thank you very much for guidance.

HI Desalegn Markos,
Hope you will able to solve your problem. I am also facing the similar problem. Would be please help me to find out the following:
In decomposition analysis, how can I get
Coefficient
Mean
Elasticity
Percentage contribution to Concentration index
I look forward to your reply.
