Hi there,

Does anybody know of a way to separate Aire Metropolitaine and Ouest in the Household Member recode file for the 2005-06 survey? The two regions are combined in HV024 but in other surveys they are separated in HV023. I need to gather estimates for the two separate regions.

Many thanks

Crosstabbing HV024 with shmetrop should provide you what you need.

Hi Trevor.

Unfortunately, this does not provide me with what I need. I need to calculate estimates for Metropolitan Area and West separately, as shown in the final report/stat compiler. But, there is no variable for which these two regions are separated.

Thanks

You can create a variable based on the values of hv024 and shmetrop.
clonevar region = hv024
replace region = 0 if region == 1 & shmetrop == 0
This will split the first gruop so 0 is the metropolitan area, and 1 is the west.
