You have to weight the data. The household sample weight variable is HV005 , the individual weight variable is V005, and the male weight variable is MV005. These are eight-digit variables with six implied decimal places. Always divide the weight variable by 1,000,000 before applying it.

The weights in DHS data files have been normalized so that the total number of weighted cases equals the total number of unweighted cases.

Here is an example of code for an SPSS program in which the results are to be weighted:
WTVAR=V005/1000000
WEIGHT BY WTVAR
