Hi,
I am using the 2013 Nigerian DHS and am interested in looking at the effects of wealth INEQUALITY on various health outcomes. I would like to do this on a state level, and sub-state level (i.e at the level of localities, etc). As the wealth index available in the NDHS is a relative score at the national level, I would like to recode new variables for wealth scores that sort households into wealth quintiles relative to others in their locality or in their state, rather than just relative to the entire country. Therefore, I was wondering what the best procedure would be to obtain raw (i.e. absolute) wealth scores that can then be recoded into relative wealth scores at various levels (within-state, within-municipality, etc). I am using SPSS.
Thank you very much for your help!
