My outcome variables of interest are anemia and malaria.
I managed to download the files (datasets) from the DHS site, however as a beginner using STATA, I am finding it difficult to merge and or append these files (HR, PR,IR,BR, KR, MR, CR, WI) into one combined dataset in order to obtain my covariates of interest since they are not in one particular file.
Kindly assist me in this regard.
Kind regards
Steve

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:
You are making your life more difficult than necessary. You do not need to combine these files. First decide what are your cases, or units of analysis. Most likely they are either women or children. You can probably do everything you want to do with just the IR (women) file or the KR (children) file. Look at the variables in those files. You will find almost all of the variables collected by DHS. It is conceivable that you will want to merge in something from the PR file. It is unlikely that you will ever need the HR, CR, BR, or WI files.
