Dear Users,
I am trying to come out with the proportion of under five that slept under net the previous night using the Burkina Faso 2010 DHS PR file. I am facing discordance with the final report number which is 14597 and i got 14001 as the number of under five children in the total househould to use as denominator.
I am really gratefull for any support to solve this issue. (I am using StATA software)
Best regards!

A response from Senior Malaria Expert, Dr. Lia Florey:

Dear Omill,
It sounds like the discrepancy may be arising from your choice of variable to specify the denominator. It is important to keep in mind that all of the bednet indicators are restricted to the de facto population (usual residents or visitors who spent the previous night in the household). Instead of number of under five children in the total household (maybe you are using hv014 for this?) you will need to specify the denominator using the variables that select de facto household residents (hv103) and age of household members (hml16). Please let me know if you continue to have difficulties and need further assistance.
