A response from one of our technical experts, Dr. Kia Reinis:

Hello Jane,

We don't know how you are choosing to define medical for purposes of your particular analysis, but we do not have information on places of delivery further than what is in the questionnaires, or may have been written up in country-specific survey reports. All places if delivery are defined specific to the environment of the country in which the question "Where did you give birth to (NAME)?" was asked. A health post in one country may offer more or fewer medical services than a health post in another country so if you wanted to know what services are provided by a health post, you have to know what constitutes a health post in the country of interest . All places you mention (health post, dispensary, and health centres) provide medical goods or services in some capacity, but to what capacity is not elaborated on in the data.

We appreciate your interest in DHS data.
