Men and Women's views on household decision making
https://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.phpindex.php?t=rview&goto=19425&th=8983#msg_19425
I am looking to compare spouses views on who makes decisions in their households but I am a bit confused by the men's data. In the men's dataset for Zambia, I realised that the label for the decision-making variables says "person who should have greater say on respondent's health care " while the women's dataset says "person who usually decides on respondent's health care". I then thought these were responses to different questions but then when I look at the men's questionnaire, the question is worded like that of the women.
I am therefore wondering if these are just different coding to the same question or if they are actually different.
Thanks in advance ]]>Oratile2020-06-16T11:02:03-00:00Re: Men and Women's views on household decision making

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:
As you stated, the question is worded the same way in the women's and men's questionnaires, and the variable labels should be the same. However, there is indeed a discrepancy in the variable labels (V743A-F vs MV743A-F). We will fix this problem on our end, in the new DHS Phase 8 Recode.
Please interpret the responses to those variables, the same way in your analysis.
