https://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.phpindex.php?t=rview&goto=11613&th=5813#msg_11613
I am using the IAIR42FL dataset ie the women's dataset for India based on NFHS Round II.
In it there are a number of birth history variables such as bidx, bord, b1 till b15.
There are two variables age at death ie b6 and agee at death (months imputed) ie b7. Can you please tell me how to interpret them?
Can you please tell me what was the age of these two children of women with caseid 21482 when they died? How to interpret b6_01 and b7_01, similarly b6_03 and b7_03?

It has a description of the variables you are looking at and will give you useful information on how to interpret them. You may also want to download The Guide to DHS Statistics http:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs-questi onnaires-and-manuals.cfm
The Guide provides the following:
Quote:
1. To provide an overview on key aspects of the organization and use of DHS data sets
2. To serve as a reference document for researchers on the definitions and calculation of
complex statistics used in DHS reports
We also have a section on our website with useful information on Using Data for Analysis http://www.dhsprogram.com/data/Using-Datasets-for-Analysis.cfm
