Below is an example of appending two "KR" data files from two different Kenya DHS survey using SPSS.
*Openning data file.
GET FILE='C:\DHSSurvey\KEKR31FL.SAV'.
*Appending a second file.
ADD FILES /FILE=*
/FILE='C:\ DHSSurvey\KEKR52FL.SAV'
/IN=source01.
VARIABLE LABELS source01
'Case source is C:\ DHSSurvey\KEKR52FL.SAV'.
EXECUTE.

Appending done, Is it possible to create a country code based on source01? I would like to run analysis for all the 10 countries on one go from the new file that has the appended data added, is a country code going to help get results for different countries? ]]>PMKenya2015-03-14T09:55:04-00:00Re: merging different countries data

This decision is up to you. You can use the "source01?" to create the country codes variable or you can create it based on variables already included in our DHS data like:
V000 = country code and phase the country
V006 = months of the interview
V007 = Year of the interview
