Hi Yilin,

If you want to look at the mortality of children by the education of their mothers, you will probably want to use the data file in which each child, or birth, is a unit of analysis. That is the BR (births recode) file.

Education in single years is recorded in v133. See page 37 of the Recode Manual:

Quote:
"V133 Education in single years. This variable is constructed from the educational level (V106)
and the grade at that level (V107) as follows:
V106 = > V133
0 = > 0
1 = > V107
2 = > V107+x
3 = > V107+y
9 = > 99
x = years to complete primary education
y = years to complete primary and secondary education
where both x and y are country-specific."
