This is a very important effort to more fully understand the effect of lack of access to surgical care facing men, women, and children. A huge amount of morbidity related to NCDs is due to lack of surgery, and this data collection will help ministries of health better address that need.

We should absolutely collect surgical indicators. Surgical mortality is a leading cause of death and more effort is needed to understand this burden. Data collection in the DHS will allow a better understanding of surgical quality and delivery in LMIC health systems and direct funding, research and advocacy to improve the healthcare for billions.

This is very appropriate to include in DHS surveys.

Added data on surgical treatment of NCDs is necessary to advance our progress in this increasingly important topic. Please consider including these questions to the upcoming DHS survey.

Despite much of the world's disease burden being surgical surgery has fallen between the cracks, with data on surgical disease burden being largely modelled data. Having these items on the DHS survey is crucial.

I strongly support Dr. Romanzi's suggestions for indicators to track surgical NCDs; these are vital yet heretofore neglected aspects of critically important health metrics.

NCD's (but the inclusive and limited list) are numerous unrelated diseases across multiple ogan systems and chronic treatment plans. One commonality is that they all require surgical services at some point (often at multiple points along the lifespan) for optimal and equitable management. thes surgical indicators will help us better understand when and what interventions are needed
