Dear DHS,

I am trying to match each child with their mother and my variables of interest are the height-for-age, weight-for-age and weight-height. Which would be the best to merge and can you assist me with the Stata codes.

I have tried using renaming the hv001 to V001 and hv002 to v002 using the PR as the base, I then use

merge 1:m v001 V002 using the IR, however, I am getting an error. Can you please assist?

Kind Regards,
Nichola

Please browse the forum. There are several posts on merging DHS data in Stata.

You might find IPUMS DHS useful. If you select Children as your unit of analysis, all of the mothers' characteristics are available to you. Most but not all DHS samples are now in IPUMS DHS.
