The DHS Model Biomarker Questionnaire is attached below for reference. However, for the Biomarkers and Anthropometry topic we are not soliciting input on the content of Biomarker Questionnaire, per se. Rather, we are interested in hearing your suggestions for new biomarkers or changes to the field and/or laboratory procedures for existing biomarkers.

The biomarkers included in the DHS Model Biomarker Questionnaire include height and weight for children, women, and men; hemoglobin for children, women, and men; and HIV serology for women and men. Please note, however, that the Model Biomarker Questionnaire has not been updated to reflect the HIV testing approach currently recommended by The DHS Program, which includes rapid testing in the household with immediate return of results in addition to laboratory testing to calculate HIV prevalence.

In addition to the 3 biomarkers included in the Model Biomarker Questionnaire, The DHS Program has conducted many other biomarkers across our various surveys. A list of these biomarkers, as well as surveys including specific biomarkers, can be identified through the "Survey Characteristics" tab in the Survey Search function on The DHS Program website.
