Dear all,

I am trying to generate average health outcome values in the DHS for groups of neighboring clusters (i.e., v001).

For any DHS dataset, is there an easy way to group clusters / PSUs into groups of e.g., 5, 10, or 50 neighboring clusters / PSUs?

Could this be done with / without the use of the associated GPS datasets if available for a country-year?

Thank you very much!

All the best,
jwdeneve

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

I don't believe we can provide any general guidance for how to do this. It could be useful to group clusters according to a country's level 1 or level 2 administrative areas. Other users may be able to suggest alternative criteria.
