Hello all,

I am working with the Namibia household dataset, and am interested specifically in both hypertension and type II diabetes. I have a question about some of the variables. Variables sh319a-e are for a variety of advice/treatment variables (exercise, reduce salt, etc). Does anyone know if these questions were asked in the context of advice for hypertension, for type II diabetes, or just in general (unspecified)? Please let me know. I appreciate it!

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

The survey manager for that survey is no longer with DHS, so I cannot reconstruct the original motivation for including those country-specific items. If you look through the main report, you may find that they were used in some way. Otherwise, if you can find some way to relate them to any information on chronic diseases in that survey, we would encourage you to do so.
