Hi everyone,

I was trying to work with DHS data, especially variables on child diarrhea cases. I am interested in the variable obtained from the question, "Did (NAME) experience diarrhea in the last two weeks?" I understand the reference period in this question is two weeks, but I wanted to work on this indicator as an annual occurrence.

How can I go about it? Please assist, and thanks in advance..

A response from Dr. Tom Pullum:

If the reference period in the question is two weeks, there is no way that you can reliably change to an interval that is longer or shorter than two weeks.

Thank you!

Just to add on to that - while you can't get a rate of diarrheal incidence for EVERY year, you can get an average under-5 rate for each SURVEY year. So you can get one year for each survey round conducted in a country, and those should be comparable over time at the national level.
