I am using Nigeria DHS 2008; trying to combine variables to form an index for female autonomy using Multiple Joint Correspondence Analysis (mca), Burt Matrix approach following an article i read. However mca doesn't allow me to do this. I might be doing something wrong, but i don't know what it is exactly. I will be happy to provide further details if needed. Thank you

This is what i used

mca v743a v743b v743c v743d v743f (pweight=v005), meth(b)

I hope I didn't make a silly mistake, this is actually my 1st time using "mca" and I am still relatively new to the Stata Package.

Hi Folu,
According to the MCA documentation (http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?mca), you cannot use sampling weights [pweight] with the -mca- command. Someone at Statalist (http://www.stata.com/statalist/) may be able to explain the background process and why this is not allowed. Did the article you read mention weighting?

HTH,

RHS
