Hello,
I have imported the the Ethiopia DHS 2011 SPSS data set to SAS 9.3. I am exploring the individual women's data set. I am interested in maternal mortality. There are multiple variables that read the same description (i.e. "siblings sex" which appear various times. The only difference that I see is that it says MM1_01, MM1_02, MM1_03, etc.) What is the difference between these variables?
What does the variable "index to maternal mortality" indicate?

Many thanks in advance,
Mercy

Dear User,
Each occurrence of the variables you mentioned is referring to a different sibling. If you take a look at your questionnaire you will see that there is space (columns) for more than one sibling. The occurrence is referring to the order of the siblings in the maternal mortality section. If you have additional questions, please feel free to post again. Thank you!
